Yamaha launched the XJR range in 1993. It's the direct competitor of the Honda CB 1300, Suzuki Bandit 1200 and GSX 1400 on the roadster market. Equipped with a 1200 cc 4-cylinder engine until 2001, it then knew a first evolution: new engine (1300 cc), reducing treatment (- 6 kg), slightly modified design. In 2007, the XJR 1300 engine received an injection system ; the chassis and the riding position were also reviewed.
