He had announced it during the winter and he did it : Troy Bayliss clinched a third World Superbike title. Thanks to his excellent season start, the Australian rider quickly made a gap. Max Neukirchner, revelation of the season, Troy Corser, consistant, Carlos Checa, rookie, and Noriyuki Haga, unchained in the last rounds, could do do nothing. Let's notice that Troy Bayliss has been crowned aboard all the 2000's models : the 998 in 2001, the 999 in 2006 and the 1098 in 2008.
In World Supersport, Andrew Pitt made his return in the series a success, after a difficult '2007 year. His teammate Jonathan Rea almost for his first campaign.
In the French camp, Régis Laconi (Superbike) faced many difficulties aboard his Kawasaki and Fabien Foret (Supersport) missed several races due to an injury.
