500 cc : The rivalry between Valentino Rossi (Honda) and Max Biaggi (Yamaha) reached its highest point during the first round of the seasonwhen"the Roman Emperor" tried to push "the Doctor" off the track at Suzuka. In the end, Rossi earned 11 wins out of 16 rounds and clinched the title with a 100 points lead.
