Wilco Zeelenberg made his Grand Prix debut in 1986 riding 80 cc machineries before switching to the 250 cc class. He recorded his best results during the 1990 and 1991 seasons, claiming one win in Germany in 1990, the pole position at the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix and ten podiums overall. He finished these seasons in 5th and 4th position. His move to Suzuki in 1992 was disappointing, with any significant result. Wilco Zeelenberg carried on racing in Grand Prix for two seasons as a privateer rider then chose the 600 cc series in 1995. He first rode with Honda then with Yamaha from 1997. During the four seasons contended for this manufacturer, he scored two wins : the first one before his fans in Assen in 1997, the second one in Italy two years later. Since he retired, he kept involved in racing with Yamaha, first as a technical co-ordinator then as a team manager of the World Supersport official team since 2008.
