Gabor Talmacsi got on a bike for the first time at the age of 3 in his father's riding school. After a wild card race at Brno in 2000, he became a permanent 125 world GP rider from 2001. Without any convincing result before KTM recruited him, he claimed three wins in 2005 but, ignoring team instructions, he played ir Thomas Lüthi's hand for the title chase, at the expense of his team-mate Mika Kallio. Dismissed by the Austrian factory, he lived a dull 2006 season before getting a competitive bike again in Aspar's team. With a 5 points lead on Hector Faubel, the Hungarian rider clinched the title at the end of the final round at Valencia, the first ever for his country. Lacking performance in the 2008 early season, he finished 3rd overall with three further victories to his name. Gabor Talmacsi started 2009 in the 250cc but only contended the three first rounds due to a contractual disagreement with his team. Thanks to the support of the Hungarian oil company Mol, he finished the season in MotoGP with the Team Scot, with a 12th place in Great-Britain as best result. In 2010, Gabor Talmacsi make his Moto2 debut.
