Supported by his family, Casey Stoner quickly recorded good results(first domestic title at the age of six). Emigrated in Great-Britain when he was 14 to make his road racing debuts (the minium age is 16 in Australia), Casey Stoner was crowned for his first season in the British 125 cc championship (2000). Noticed by Alberto Puig when he took part in two Spanish rounds, Casey Stoner contended the English and Spanish championships both, in 2001, and finished twice second. He scored his first points in world championship too (12th at Philip Island). Lucio Cecchinello proposed him a 250 cc ride in 2002. Casey Stoner confirmed all the qualities shown before. He switched to the 125 cc class in 2003 and won the last round of the season at Valencia. Recruited by the KTM factory in 2004, he earnt the first victory on track for the Austrian manufacturer. Back with the LCR team on a 250 cc Aprilia, he battled out for the world title with Dani Pedrosa in 2005. Despite ten podiums, among which five wins, he finished in second position. After the failure of the negociations with Yamaha, Lucio Cecchinello found the money to make Casey Stoner race in MotoGP on a Honda. He had a fantastic season start (he earnt the pole in Qatar and led several races) but lacked regularity and finished the championship 8th. Convinced by his adaptation abilities and his tenacity, the Ducati factory recruited him for an exceptional '2007 season : crowned three races before the end of the season and ten wins. In 2008, the young Australian champion defend his title in spite of a less competitive package.
