Ben Spies made his professional road racing debut in the USA in 2000 with Suzuki. For his rookie season, he earned the AMA Horizon Award. He claimed his first domestic title in 2003 in the Formula Extreme class. He joined the official Suzuki team in 2005, alongside Mat Mladin, and finished the Superbike championship as runner-up behind his team-mate. During the three following seasons, he clinched the title, always ahead of Mat Mladin. He also added the Superstock title to his credit in 2007. One moment expected in MotoGP for 2008, he only took part in three rounds aboard the Suzuki GSV-R. With convincing results in the premier-class and a third AMA title, Yamaha recruited him in its World Superbike factory team.Ben Spies clinched the title in his rookie season, with a 6 points lead on Noriyuki Haga, also breaking the pole positions record in a season. After a first experience of the Tamaha M1 at Valencia for the 2009 final round, Ben Spies made a solid 2010 season with Tech finishing 6th overall, with two podiums to his credit. For he's joined the official Yamaha MotoGP squad, alongside the reiginig world champion Jorge Lorenzo.
