Kenan Sofuoglu made his racing debut in his country then in Germany. Spotted by Yamaha, he contended the 1000 Superstock championship in 2004 and 2005, finishing as runner-up for his second season. Recruited by the Ten Kate Honda team in the World Supersport class, he helped his team-mate Sébastien Charpentier to retain the titale in 2006 and widely dominated the season 2007 (8 wins). Kenan Sofuoglu became the first Turkish motorcyle world champion. His move to World Superbikes in 2008 was a failure. He switched his ride with Jonathan Rea for the last round and got back on the victory trail. 3rd in 2009, he secured his second crown in 2010. Kenan Sofuoglu will defend his title in 2011 before trying his luck in another series, such as Moto2.
