Jakub Smrz made his first appearences in Grand Prix in the 125 cc class in 1998. He did his first full season in 2001, finishing 17th overall with a 5th place at Donington as best result. In the course ofthe following season, he made his debut in the upper category. Jakub Smrz contended in this championship until 2006, recording his best results during this latter campaign : 12th overall, 7th in China. Since 2007, he rides a customer Ducati in World Superbikes. Constantly improving, he showed himself more and more competitive, notably in qualifying (pole at Assen in 2009). Forced to make a machinery switch during the season 2010 (an Aprilia instead of his initial Ducati), Jakub Smrz has ridden again a Ducati in 2011 with the Liberty Racing team. He claimed two podiums but his lack of consistency led him to a 14th final position.
