After his domestic Supersport title, Andrew Pitt was recruited by Kawasaki to contend the world championship in 2000. The season after, he was crowned without any race win. In 2002, he eventually earned his first victory and finished the championship in 5th position. He also scored the first points for Kawasaki in the new MotoGP series. Permanent rider in 2003, Andrew Pitt liveda difficult campaign, with bike and tyres problems. Replaced by Alex Hofmann, he took part in three MotoGP races for the small Japanese team Moriwaki and finished the season in World Supersport for Yamaha Italia. Convinced by his performances, the manufacturer offered him a World Superbike ride in 2005. Improving race after race, he claimed his first race win in 2006 and a 5th final position. Despite these good results, Andrew Pitt lost his ride and joined Ilmor in MotoGP. Unfortunately, the team decided to withdraw after the first round in Qatar. Then, he replaced Sébastien Charpentier for two World Supersport races (twice 2nd) and made some tests for Michelin. Recruited as a permanent rider by Ten Kate in 2008, he achieved his mission of taking again the World Supersport title (the seventh in a row for the Dutch team). His 2009 season was disappointing and Andrew Pitt will come back to the Superbike class in 2010 aboard a privateer BMW.
