Noriyuki Haga's career is closely linked to Yamaha. He started racing in the All-Japan 250 cc (1992-1993) and Superbike (1994-1997) championships. Teamed with Colin Edwards, he won the '1996 Suzuka 8 Hour race. In 1997, Noriyuki Haga clinched the Japanese Superbike title and competed in four races in the World Championship. He finished three times on the podium and earnt a permanent ride for 1998. He quickly became one of the class leaders. He never really battled out for the title before the '2000 season. Convinced of doping, he was penalized but still finished in second position. When Yamaha decided to withdraw from the championship, Noriyuki Haga accepted (almost unwillingly) a 500 cc ride with the Red Bull team. His best result was a 4th place at Donington. He switched back to World Superbike in 2002 with Aprilia. Competitive again, he finished 4th but returned to MotoGP in 2003. More regular, his machine didn't allow him to enter the top-10 more often (7th at Donington and 8th at Le Mans). For his new come-back to World Superbike, Noriyuki Haga finished in 3rd position aboard his Renegade Ducati. In 2005, Yamaha recruited him for his official return in the class. Winner of several races, Noriyuki Haga lacked the title since 2005 because of his poor season startings.
