Sylvain Guintoli started racing on scooters in 1994. French 250cc champion and 3rd of the European series in 2000, he made his Grand Prix debut in 2001, claiming a 4th place in Assen as best result. Test rider for Tech3 in 2002, Sylvain Guintoli returned to 250cc GP from 2003 (3rd at 2003 Dutch TT, best privateer in 2005). Hervé Poncharal offered him a MotoGP ride in 2007. Leader at the French round and 4th in Motegi for his maiden season, he didn't know the same success with Pramac Ducati in 2008. His 2009 campaign was full of promises with a win for the British Superbike season opener, but he was seriously injured at Silverstone and was out during the main part of the championship. Sylvain Guintoli switched his ride with Yukio Kagayama in the World Superbike Alstare team. He made a consistent season and claimed a 7th overall ranking. In 2011, abaoard a Liberty Racing's Ducati , Sylvain Guintoli achieved three top-3 finishes and showed he was able to battle for victoy.
