Since 1988, Vittoriano Guareschi has competed in domestic series (Sport Production 125, 600, Supermono) before switching to European thenworld level. In Yamaha Italia colours, he finished twice as runner-up (1997 and 1998) in the recent 600 cc class. After a disappointing world Superbike campaign in 2000, Vittoriano Guareschi returned to World Supersport with Ducati : two 4th finishes, in Australia and Germany, were his best results. Interested in his great experience of four-stroke engines, the Italian manufacturer made him responsible for developing the MotoGP bike in 2002. Vittoriano Guareschi raced again only once in 2004 for the Italian World Supersport round, that he finished 8th. He succeeded to Livio Suppo at the MotoGP team head in 2010.
