Alex de Angelis made his Grand Prix debut with Honda in the 125 cc class. Then he went on improving with Aprilia. 125 cc runner-up in 2003 and two-times 3rd in the 250 cc world championship (2006 and 2007), the rider from San-Marino took only two GP wins in ten seasons at world level. In 2008, Fausto Gresini trusted him to contend the MotoGP world championship. Alex de Angelis claimed two 4th places as best results for his rookie season and a thundering 2nd position at the 2009 Indinapolis Grand Prix. Despite an 8th position overall, he was forced to look for a ride in Moto2. As the Team Scot stopped at half-season, Alex de Angelis filled in for Hiroshi Aoyama, injured, in MotoGP and afterwards for Mattia Pasini, dismissed, with the Moto2's JiR Team. Winner in Australia, he races for the same team in 2011.
