MotoGP veteran, Loris Capirossi started his international career with two 125 cc world titles (1990 and 1991), breaking the precocity record then hold by Alex Criville. Unconsistant for his 250 cc debuts, he battled for the title during the two next seasons without reaching his goal (2nd in 1993 and 3rd in 1994). Perhaps to accept this deception, Loris Capirossi moved to the 500 cc class, with Honda (1995) first and Yamaha (1996). Without really convincing, he took the victory at Philip Island after the crash between Alex Criville and Mick Doohan. In 1997, he replaced Max Biaggi in the 250 cc Aprilia squad. For his come back, his results were far from his expectations (6th only and three podiums) but he earnt the title at the end of a tough fight with his teammate Tetsuya Harada. Afetr the final round crash, the firm from Noale fired Loris Capirossi. Refugee in Fausto Gresini’s team, his former teammate, he won the '1999 opening round but couldn’t keep his title in front of Valentino Rossi. From 2000 to 2002, engaged in 500 cc with Sito Pons’ satellite Honda team, Loris Capirossi won one more race and finished 3rd in 2001. Strongly experienced, he was associated as Nr 1 rider to the Ducati MotoGP Desmosedici project from 2003. This gave his career a new breathe with six more victories and a new 3rd place finish in 2006. Puzzled by the new 800 cc Ducati, Loris Capirossi knew the loss of his official ride through the press at the '2007 USGP. Disappointed by the Italian manufacturer's behaviour, he decided to take up a new challenge with Suzuki.
