After a brilliant domestic career crowned with a title in the 250 cc class in 2003, Hiroshi Aoyama contended his first world season in Alberto Puig's team. Teamed up with Dani Pedrosa, who clinched the titles in 2004 and 2005, Hiroshi Aoyama claimed his maiden win in Japan in 2005. In 2006, the Japanese rider joined the Austrian KTM factory, alongside Mika Kallio. He took four wins in 2006 and 2007 but lived a more difficult 2008 season with a single pole position to his credit. At the end of the season, KTM suddenly announced its immediate withrawing from the series, leaving Hiroshi Aoyama without any ride. Recruited by the Scot team to ride again a Honda machinery, he clinched the world title ahead of the Aprilia armada and Marco Simoncelli on his Gilera, the defending champion. Riding in the Interwetten Honda satellite team in 2010, Hiroshi Aoyama missed six injuries due to an injury. He's Marco Simoncelli's team-mate in the Gresini team in 2011.
