Influences - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
03/05/2009

Reading has never been a great passion... When I found t is book about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry when emptying an attic last summer, I was really glad. 3500 words, it should be OK for me. Ideal to prepare this item.
So, how a writecould have any influence on my works ? For a long time, I kept limited by the book lists imposed by my teachers. Obligated, I was rarely taking pleasure in those readings.
And, one day, as I wasn't forced at all, I said to myself that it could change. I remembered that many years ago I had read a book written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I had found it interesting. Its title : Southern Mail, its subject : the Aeropostale debuts and the creation of a regular line betweenFrance and Dakar by plane in the 1930's. When reading Wind, Sand and Stars, I discovered a fascinating story but I was really touched by the poetic aspects, which Saint-Ex had the secret. I started to search stuffs closely or loosely related to Antoine de Saint Exupéry. In this modest collection, there is 50 franc note from the first series, where Saint Exupéry's name is misspelt. There is also a phonecard édited in 1991 by the #113 French air force base. And there is eventually this comic book by Hugo Pratt The last flight dedicated to Saint-Ex. It's not so easy to deal with such a extraordinary destiny, but between poets, it's more simple.
