News - '2008 MotoGP French round : the report
05/29/2008

I spent a quiet winter because I was sure to enter the French GP paddock once more. This serenity allowed me to make a high number of artworks. I started to work in early december. Artwork after artwork, I was dreaming of a perfect "hunt". A mish-mash in my telephone list ruined my morning.

Once inside the circuit, I tried to make up with lost time. Chris Vermeulen and Casey Stoner passed near me several times but I couldn't stop them. I didn't see Dani Pedrosa at all. And Valentino Rossi ? This year, I took the risk to make two watercolours about him. Unfortunately, all I got was a picture of his motorhome.

Here are my regrets. But, objectively, I don't miss chance. What a joy to meet the MotoGP riders. Year after year, paddock passes get rarer. Anyway, I got many signatures. Among them, Jorge Lorenzo who, in spite of his two broken ankles, signed my watercolours. Or Manuel Poggiali, the stealthy rider who signs and walks in the same time... I spent a nice time with Sylvain Guintoli too. My new technique (watercolours and India ink) got a good welcome from the riders. This style based on comics technique gives more relief, contrast and precision to the artworks.

Now, I look at my next goal : World Superbikes at Magny-Cours in October. Until then, I will put the MotoGP rookies' profiles online and update the "old" ones according to the following schedule :
